Mission LIBERIA MINISTRY FOCUSED ON PASTORS

WHO SERVE AMONG RURAL AND URBAN POOR IN LIBERIA

Liberia is a nation slowly recovering from a decade-and-a-half of civil war. During this conflict, thousands of its citizens streamed into neighboring West African nations to
escape the horrors.

My first contact was in 2008 in a United Nations refugee camp where nearly ten thousand refugees huddled together in squalid conditions. But among them was a group of believers who were preparing to return and help rebuild their nation from the inside out.

    C. Brown Dennis, founder of CORUM—a grass-roots organization focused on training and equipping pastors who labor in very difficult environments among the rural and marginalized urban poor—had invited me to come and help them develop such a program.

After doing so in Nigeria, I was coming this time to Liberia where CORUM was establishing a Bible school with our assistance. To help launch the first semester, I spent 2 weeks training and encouraging 78 pastors who gathered in Monrovia under the theme “To Know Him And Make Him Known.”

Response was extremely positive. Since my trip a local committee has been assembled to utilize this training and reproduce it in other locations throughout the country. In addition to this, Impact Ministries recently provided the funds to purchase a tract of land outside Monrovia capable of supporting three structures which will one day be built to house the school.

We are so privileged to be able to partner with these brothers and sisters in their desire to evangelize their nation and help rebuild it for Jesus Christ.
